A virus affecting my phalaenopsis?
Default A virus affecting my phalaenopsis?

This phal is suspect to me. It didnt have these symptoms when i got it. The new leaves come out mottled with purple and the leaves are kind of wavy. The underside of the leaves tend to be pitted and scarred as well. It has not flowered since '14 (which could easily be due to neglect). It also has a basal keiki. The yellow dehydrated spot on the leaf could be mechanical damage and it hasnt changed at all since I noticed it but I took a picture jic.

It does have scale insect. This has not been a huge issue or Id get after it more, I just wash my phals off occasionally with soapy water.

First pic is of the basal keiki, showing the leaf mottling.

I would suspect mite damage rather than virus.

I havent seen any signs of mites, just the hard scale insects. Also, none of my other phals have these symptoms.

I am only familiar with spider mites though...are there other mites that can affect phals, and if so, what should I look for?

Also, is it possible this is a nutrient deficiency? I havent fertilized my orchids in months
