Buzzbee, you can get general orchid food just about anywhere you can buy orchids I am using the Shultz food. I would try misting the roots till they turn green first. If they aren't doing so after a few minutes of spritzing, go do something else and try again after 20 minutes.

You live in California, so don't have the humidity issues I have
