Tell you what is useful, and that is braided fishing line. I was looking for some strong thread, but by the time it is strong enough, it is too thick. Braided line on the other hand is so fine you can sew with it, yet it will take 6 kilos of weight! I use it for replacing a button my jeans.
You have to use a knife to cut it, and dont try and snap it, you will cut your fingers to the bone.

I am going to try making pot holders by twisting soft fencing wire and see what happens. The trouble with this approach is it is very hard on ones hands.

What I did before I could weld was to bend wire in a circle with three compressed loops standing up. You then melt three holes in the plastic edge of the pot and push them thru. You then bend them over to make the three hooks.
Alternatively, there are welding masks that have clear glass, which are wonderful.

Thank you. Welding is really pretty easy, especially if you can invest in a MiG welder, as they are so much better than arc welders. My friend lent me his, gave me a five minute lesson and I was away. Best also to invest in a large CO2 cylinder as it works out way cheaper than
the tiny canisters they sell.
I'm not a great welder, but with a bit of grinding and a dab of black paint you can hide a world of errors!
