Phaleonopsis Queen Beer Female
Default Phaleonopsis Queen Beer

Noticed my Phal. 'Queen Beer' was not looking too good and decided to investigate, expecting the worst.
Here is what I have.
The first two pictures are when I bought her last summer, the last three are this afternoon. Now it looks like she has plenty of healthy roots and should not look that dilapidated. She is being repotted in a clear pot. The leaves are also quite wrinkled.
Any ideas?

What is your room humidity? Low humidity will dry phal leaves and make them thin and wrinkled. They can plump back if if conditions improve.

The roots look good so I too think it will be OK. It just looks like it got a little thirsty.

If your humidity is really low, you might try the semi-water method for phals. This is what I do, and it has really helped reinvigorate my phals that were ailing and dehydrated. The caveat brought up by many people is that there isn't much information about how this affects them long-term. For me, though, it's been a lifesaver.

Basically, you place the orchid in a glass container and submerge the roots about halfway up, not letting the water touch the plant at all. Let it soak like that for two or three days, and then dump the water out and let the plant sit in air for the rest of the week.

Even with extremely low humidity (like 10%), my phals don't get wrinkly anymore. It's probably not for everyone, though.
