Default New orchids

Hallo,
I have made a order to be sent from Germany. IŽll guess I have to wait for the delivery, it is soon Chrismas and the weather is not in favour. I have order 1 small and 1 flowering size Cattleya intermedia Orlata, 1 Bulbophyllum masdevalliaceum (flowering size) and a small Laelia purpurata (rosa cereja x carnea)

Very nice, Spider. Hopefully the Cattleya intermedia will have a sheath. I have a variety alba of that species and I've been watching the tiny buds within the sheath slowly get bigger each day. I think intermedia flowers in the spring after a rest (but since this is the first time my plant's gotten big enough to flower, I can't be certain). The Laelia cross should be nice too. Just out of curiosity, how long does it usually take for plants to travel within the EU? Congratulations on your order. There's nothing like a healthy shipment of new plants to help one forget (momentarily at least) the dreariness of winter.

It takes maybe 3-4 days depending on what service they use. Ordernary mail packet can take 5 days, but smaller plants can be sent by letter. If goes quicker it the parcel is sent by airmail.

Hi Spider,

From which nursery did you order? (Roellke-Orchideenzucht? - I mean, from all the german nurseries I know, they are the only ones with these 3 plants) They are supposed to be very serious and make good deliveries. However, I know someone who has one Catt intermedia 'Orlata' from them and was very happy with the plant and the service, but she also ordered once a Laelia purpurata and had bad luck with the plant . Furthermore, their rating at
Commerce Orchidées is not very convincing
Can you give feedback here on your delivery and the quality of the plants? I am interested in some of their plants, but after my friends experience (50% bad, 50% good) am not very sure...

Yes, you are right. it is Roelke myself and we att Neovita are ordering from, they are very pleasent to deal with. They refund plants that is no good. I have been shopping from them before. Members in Neovita.com are making on order for over 100 plants.
I realy hope the Laelia purpurata is OK. I have to sell out a few of my older plants eventually, if I´m lucky with the purpurata, it is not a small plant.
I´ll write and let you know, maybe some pictures too.
Were do your order your plants?

I have ordered from several ones, but mostly from Schwerter Orchideenzucht and Grossrächener Orchideen. Very good experience with both of them, and in the case I was not happy with one plant from Schwerter (too small) or another one which did not tolerate being re-potted, I received either a voucher or a new plant. Currlin, has a very good offer too, however I was not happy with them: ordered two Laelia anceps (one excellent in pot, the other a bit too dry mounted on cork and not the quality I expected for the price), one Catt. luedemmaniana (hhmmm.... obviously the plant had suffered a bit in the last seasons, as teh two newest PB were a lot smaller than the previous) and one Catt. percivaliana, which is about to flower but many leave were not very healthy. Other one I like a lot, but currently not working online is Lenhard (I try to visit them everytime I can in Germany). A friend of mine has ordered from MSB and was very happy.

Hello, Spider. I also purchased a small Laelia purpurata (rosa cereja x carnea w. d. silva) from Roellke-orchideen in January at the Miami Orchid Festival. It is doing well, but I don't expect flowers this year. I have no idea what the flower looks like, do you?

They are rather sweet, instead of a purple or flesh colored lip, its pink. it will be a few years before mine will flower as well.
