My battle with MITES! Yak! Female
Angry My battle with MITES! Yak!

And that how it looks like….. Three month battle with mites…..
It is started with gift from my boyfriend when I was away for work…. It only took two weeks to spread to all of my babies. They chewed on everything Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Cattleya, Paphiopedilum, Zygopetalum and their favorite Phalaenopsis. Phalaenopsis got the worst of it to the point they need to grow a new crown. Some drop all of their leaves like Phal, Zygo and some Den. The rest have white leaves. Because I grow my orchids indoors in my apartment and have a cat I could not use any harsh stuff. I used Mite X and Insecticidal Soap from Bonide, every week wash them in shower and then spray and repeat….. I lost seven of my babies…. But the rest are bouncing back, growing new growth and blooming or going to. Here is my WARNING ,he ordered my “present” from “Orchids.com”….. Stay away from them if you love your orchids!!!

How upsetting; glad you have control now. You can also use rubbing alcohol, 70%-90% isopropyl alcohol, to spray for mites. You need to spray every 4-7 days for 3-5 treatments, as you are doing, and then remain vigilant for a long time.

Oh no, this is terrifying. I had some mites come in on my Catasetum this year but luckily the plant was dropping its leaves for the winter anyway.

I sprayed the whole thing with a dish soap / oil mixture and am hoping they will not find my other plants!
