Sometimes my husbands amazes me
Both of our birthdays are coming up. Since we are about move and have two children (toddler and pre-teen) to buy Christmas presents for, we decided to celebrate our birthdays early.
We went out to dinner and had a nice night without kids. He told me to order an orchid or two. I ordered a Phalaenopsis samera and Bellina blue from Big Leaf. Both I've been drooling over and trying to find. I get them. I'm happy as can be. THEN I get a random box in the mail and open it up to find this
A Phalaenopsis Bellina that he found on eBay. He isn't even a plant or orchid guy. He just listened to me when I talk about them and the ones I want. It's so gorgeous! The leaf shape alone is to die for. The round light green wavy. That was maybe a week ago. The bud just opened all the way and I'm so in love!

And here's the samera which is beautiful too

Out of curiosity. How many "husbands" do you have?

That's so lovely, Mtownbootgirl!
I recently got started with Orchids, and to my surprise, my boyfriend not only listens to me talk about them, he even bought me 4 lovely orchids and is asking when the best local grower is open so we can go visit together.
When I told I thought him blooms last longer in higher humidity, he said we should buy a humidifier!
Your new girls are lovely - I really like the leaves on your Bellinas, too!

Haw, haw Ray you beat me to it.
They are both lovely and you are lucky to have a husband to do that. Mine would never do that

Oh wow I didn't even notice that 😳 how do I edit?
I was pretty floored. Usually he isn't like this. Not that he isn't great.
Anyway I had to share. My friends aren't plant/orchid people. To them he just got me a flower. When it means more to me.

Windwaker, that's how my husband is too. He comes with me to Seattle Orchid and helps me pick out orchids. Talks to the owner about their care...like he's the one growing them.
Actually he probably would try to help grow them if I let him. When I started growing house plants a few years ago I had to tell him to leave them alone. We were killing them with 2 people watering. Especially since he thinks everything needs water everyday.

You had better keep him. Nice gesture. So buy him a plant or two, he seems really interested. I will have to show my husband your post.

He does seem to like learning about them. And he defiantly likes having plants around the house. I don't know if he'd actually enjoy growing them. But that's not a bad idea. Maybe I'll surprise him with a plant or two 😉

Lol sounds like my bf. He's not much of a pant person or orchid guy himself. I'm so happy for you though! They look wonderful!!!
