Flower Changed colors from last bloom

Help! While we are enjoying this incredible looking flower, we don't understand how it went from having a white background to a green one since last bloom!!! The size and shape of the petals are totally different as well. Thoughts???

Sometimes I get differences in color from bloom to bloom due to environmental factors such as light intensity.

This is an example of nature versus nurture.

Your growing conditions (everything from light, water quality, fertilizer, temps, etc) can have a dramatic effect on the color, shape, size, etc of your flowers.

Also, not sure how long the green flower has been open, but many flowers change color as they age. That's rather prevalent in Phals of certain colors and genetic background. So it could be that they'll lighten in color over time, approaching a pure white background.

Yes it definitely seems as though all those things are a possibility. Today the flower is less green but still looks like it has some more changes to undergo as it matures. One last question though, if you take a look at the later buds that are opening, you find a little root look alike structure spilling out at the center. Now we know it's part of the center of the flower, but does anyone know why this happened? I've never seen it before, usually orchids just lift petals up from the center as they open. This one is rather sloppy in comparison?

Look at this bud. Please tell me if this is normal? Never seen this happen before.

Mrhappyrotter is right. While developing the white background flowers will pass from a greenish color to a completely developed white color.

Temperature can cause changes in flower color more than any other environmental factor. I have several orchids that bloom one color in warm weather and a slightly different color in cool weather. Also, some orchids open with one color and change to a different shade after a week or so. I have a cattleya that blooms yellow and turns bright white after about 4 days. I think the bud is fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

The protrusion from the buds seem to be part of the labellum (lip).

Flower color can change as has been mentioned.
Size and shape might also commonly change, although this usually shouldn't be too great.

Some plants are highly consistent in flower quality from season to season, while others are not, and this is true regardless of the conditions.

Now, what I think here is that the current bloom is still fresh and the greenish background may whiten out over the course of a few days.
