Actually, the tempearture has been around 20C these days and humidity is high - around 70% (it's been raining daily). I really think she just hated to be disturbed, because I watered her two days ago and today, when I watered her again, medium was still moist (yes, I'm using the skewer method). It's not been too hot or too cold, humidity is adequate. She's planted in a mix of bark chips, sphagnum moss, coconut fiber and charcoal. Just a bit moss because coconut chips retain moisture. I'm giving her shaded bright light. Am I doing something wrong? I know it's a complex hybrid (but I love them!) - Colmanara also tried suicide under my care, but now Colmanara is fine with new growth. In terms of growth, there is something which i think is a teeny tiny new growth, but not entirely sure, the position is odd.

I bought an Oncidium in bloom from a supermarket this spring, in horrible mushy decomposed potting soil. A really expert orchid growing friend told me to leave it alone, and not repot until blooming was over and new growth starting. I did so; the soil is even worse, but the plant continues growing new roots, and is now ready for repotting.

Your new green sprig might be a new growth or a spike. Spikes tend to come from inside the lower leaf sheaths, and new growths from the very base of the pseudobulb. Spikes tend not to be visible until they're pretty big. The fact you can see it suggest it's a new growth, and new roots should arrive soon.

I would also treat with a kelp product to encourage rooting.
