Can this be keiki? :O Female
Question Can this be keiki? :O

Hello

I have an Phalaenopsis orchid which I really love, she was a gift for a special occasion but it got terminal spike Since she had last blooming, she seems calm and like resting. Few days ago I noticed something which I thought is spike, and I somehow still think it is, but it kinda looks different then any other spike I saw. Since I want so much for her to have keiki so I can continue to have her, I started thinking that this might be it. Help me, what do you think it is?
Thanks in advance!

It seems to be a new root.

It may be a root but it does have a lot of extra thick green tissue around it and that reminds me of a keiki. If it's a keiki, a little leaf will come out rather quickly and you will know.

Overall, the plant looks not horribly happy, so it *could* end up being a keiki, though I think it's a new root too.

Thank you for answers. This Phal looks kinda bad because it only has two leaves because of terminal spike, but it has very good root system and it looks healthy in other ways... I hope it will be ok. Thank you guys once again!

I replied to this thread and yesterday noticed this in one of my phals:

I think we're in the same boat.

I think root... spikes come from just above leaves.
