Stalled Ascocenda
Five months ago, I acquired an Ascocenda Yarnisa Gold 'Pure Gold' from Kawamoto Orchids. It's not a plant I would ordinarily try to keep, because of its high humidity/water requirements (my climate is super low in humidity - I mean 15% or so for most of the summer). But since it was part of a gift package for my birthday, I figured I would try it out.
Every day, sometimes twice a day, I soak it in reverse-osmosis water with a touch of fertilizer added (less than a pinch for at least a gallon of water) for anywhere from 10 minutes to a couple hours. Then I hang it in a south-facing window that gets a ton of light. It's bare-root in a vanda basket.
Nothing much has happened in all that time! The roots are really not great looking, but it did put out a new growth from the top of its fishbone. There's nothing to show or see, or else I'd include a picture. Nothing is really wrong with it - it's just not super vigorous.
I keep it as hydrated as I can manage. Any tips to help with that, or any other information about this particular type of plant?
