Hello, my friends
I'm not sure if my catt is getting too much light so here are some photos to help me decide.
Another issue, somewhat related, is that the edges (mainly) are turning red. I've been reading about anthocyanins and their function but it can be also a symptom of too much light. I'm not sure if my pictures clearly show the intensity of it, as well as the leaves' color. I took these pictures under different lights.
Anyway, here they are, please tell me what do you think.

Many of my catts that have reds in the blooms also tend to get red on the leaves, at least mine do.

Yes, I've read that catts (it also happens in phals) with purple flowers thend to have this red color. But since is also a protective system against too much light, I'm wondering if that is the case.

The amount yours has means it has reached optimal light levels, more than too much I think. Is that bud just opening?. Can't wait to see it.

It is opening, I guess. When I bought it it was there already, together with to blasted blooms in the pot. It hasn't change since then (1 week), doesn't die but it doesn't open either.
Objectively, probably it will die but my intutition says it won't. If that happens, I will consider it a victory and will take full credit for it.

Have you made sure the petals aren't stuck together with honeydew? It's usually not a problem, but maybe a drop at the tip is holding them shut.

The honeydew comes from the catt? If that's the case, what shall I do?

Yes, a well hydrated orchid often emits drops of honey dew on spikes, sheaths, buds etc. It usually doesn't hamper buds opening, but I have had the odd one where a tip accumulates at the end of the bud, and maybe dries a bit or just holds the tip of the petals closed. Barely touch the tip or gently pry and the petals usually pop open in an hour or even less. I don't know if that is the problem with yours but if its been like that for a week, I assume it wants to open and can't.

The leaves look good. It is good to give Catts as much light as possible short of burning. Such plants are much more disease resistant.
