Old canes can flower again... I have one 2 years old with flowers... but no keikis.

If you really want keikis, you can force them - the caveat being that you do so at the expense of blooms.
Once you see buttons forming after their rest period, fertilise the heck out of them. The buttons will almost invariably develop as keikis.

Just to add a little.........there is a product out there called keiki root. It is supposed to influence rooting on stubborn keikis. As to removal of keikis, I just twisted them off when the roots were about 3-4 inched long, and potted them up and they did fine.
