Default 911...911!!!!

OK, so I gave my cids a thorough inspection over the week-end and noticed that one of the leaves on my den noid was trurning "yellowish" and wasn't looking all that great. I come home tonight and this is what I find!

What in the WORLD is happening?

OK... that looks like what my dens did when they were losing leaves. So... I guess that means they -weren't- the kind that loses their leaves? Well... whatever the case... they don't look great now, but at least they've stopped losing leaves, and aren't so terrible they can't come back

Here's hoping yours will bounce back!

Not enough light, too much water, not enough water?
Normal leaf drop? Warm growring (evergreen) Dens will drop leaves, just as bulbs drop their leaves and become back bulbs. Normal process for new growth thats comming or will follow.

Nobile type (deciduous) dens will also drop leaves while some canes are as green as could be.

Do you see any growth appearing from the bases of the canes?

Could be a change in "home" temper tantrum...I re-potted this one about a month ago into a s/h situation. It has some nice new root growth so I thought it would be ok....

Dens can be abit fussy anyways, it's probably adjusting itself to the new type of media.

Mine did the same last year. Gin told me it was going into rest. So I let it rest for two or so months, put it in a brighter spot and began to water it more frequently. Since then I have had a come back 'chid. No blooms yet though.

I have one (I only have two anyway) that dropped its leaves last August and still has only canes showing. They are green, plump and firm so I guess I wait. No sign of a leaf but looks like a keiki might be in the works on one cane.......any suggestions on how to get some leaves/spikes started would be appreciated.

I'm not much help. When my dens lose leaves I just let them alone water as usual and they do their own thing. I have one with green bulbs no leaves sticking out of the pot and it also has 2 bulbs with leaves and spikes. The picture looks like mine when they do this. If the kieki takes off and gives you decent roots cut it away and pot it up. If you put cinnamin on the cuts you will keep disease away. I bought a big bottle from Costco.
