I brought mine in 3 weeks ago. We got snow 2 days ago. Winter looks like it is here.

Mine have been in for the best part of a month because they forecast cold, but I needn't have bothered. The nights have barely dropped below 15.

December 31, and the weather has been so warm, I still have two Cymbidiums and my Coelogyne cristata outdoors. With warm rain this past week, several plants that looked like they would enjoy some rain moved back outdoors temporarily (nights hovering around 60 F, day temperatures in the 70s). The few that did move back outdoors include Cattleya, Phalaenopsis, & Oncidium alliances - they are moving back indoors tonight, with the low dropping to 47 F.
The Cymbidiums and Coelogyne will continue outdoors, but move to protection in my garage if the forecast calls for temperatures close to freezing. Indoors if it will get really cold.

My Cymb hybrid, Enc. magnoliae, and two Dend. kingianums are still outside. When temps fall below freezing AND they're wet, I bring them in. If they're dry and temps fall below freezing, they get to stay cold.

I've had all the orchids inside for some time, and a lot of cactus and succulents under frost cloth outdoors. We've had almost 12 nights of frost this winter so far, more than usual. We also had a week of cloudy weather with daytime temperatures in the mid 50s F / 7-8C and nights just below freezing. I realize those of you in the frozen tundra have to endure this for most of the year and I am empathetic.
