Is potted in small bark and sphangnum moss, in a very small terracotta pot. I keep outside in bright shade. Humidity is usually around 50%.

I soak the pot once every seven days, and mist the top of sphang on the days when temps have reached 90f.

For those not familiar with the name change, this was originally named Neofinita Falcata. It was called the wind orchid or the Samari orchid in early 19 century Japan. It was restricted to the very rich and nobles.

It comes in several colors and variations but usually the white on e is the only one we see in the US at reasonable prices. Pinks like this one are just beginning to arrive.

Your plant is probably 6-9 years old.

It is normally grown on a mound of sphagnum a little higher than your plant. the roots grow over the sides and in Japan they would be in exquisite pots with a special kind of sphagnum wrapped around the mound. Like the Japanese tea ceremony presentation is part of the joy of owning one.

What do you have it potted in? It looks like moss. Mine is in bark the way I purchased it. Perhaps I should repot it.

Most commercial growers and serious hobbyist are using sphag. Bark works but is not traditional.

Yes it does, I was so excited when I saw the spike.

And Jerry,

Thank you for your inf. When I repot I will try to set it up a little higher on the pot. And I look up some of the pots you mention and they are beautiful, the prices, well let say I can get several small plants for the price of one pot.

I have it potted in spahg and some small bark. The bark is at the bottom of the pot I use it mostly to give it the plant some high as well as stabilize it, the rest is sphagnum moss. I did this because a two years ago I killed two beautiful plants that I had in bark/coconut husk bc I could not keep them moisture enough.

This was the right price for me to venture once again into this type of orchid, I'm glad I did.

Really nice, I can't wait for mine to bloom, but it is still quite small. How are you growing it?
