Default I have the same problem

I bought a dendrobium Golden Aya two weeks ago from a local green house and it was beautiful when I brought it home, but since then it has lost 6 leaves. They turned yellow, then dropped. The fact that it was green when it dropped is a little odd, but I wouldn't worry about it. Mine is full of spikes and I can't wait for it to bloom.
Enjoy your new plant.

I have another question:

If the plant is in active growth, why are you only misting and not providing the water and nutrition it needs?

Yes, the leaf is still green as ever.

And as to Ray's comment, I am watering it properly and giving it nutrients. I mist because of the type of enviornment it lives in indoors; I have a humidity reader and it says the air is at 38% humidity. I have read that Orchids need a higher humidity, and since I can't provide that any other way, I mist. I just started raising orchids a month ago, give me a break.

I don't mist my Phals and humidity is from 30%-40% daily. I prefer to not risk rot in the heart of the plant - that is where the "mist" would end up.

When I read this:

Quote:
And I'm only misting the roots, the rest of the plant isn't getting the moisture
I also thought you were only misting.

Ray's question is a valid one...and you needn't get defensive about it

I have only grown a few Dendrobiums, but is the plant getting enough water, the pseudobulbs look more wrinkled than a plant in active growth and getting sufficient water. how often are you watering, what size of pot is it in, what type media is it in?

Personally not a huge supporter of misting to increase humidty, simply due to it's limited effectiveness and rot potential.

Good luck with your plant, nice to see the new growth even though it sheds a leaf or two.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Since I just started owning orchids just last month, I don't know how things should be done. BUT, here it is 10 days later from when I originally posted this and the leaf is still very very green.

(the plant it is from)
