Default Pleur stricta

When I purchased this plant is was in a regular bark mix but I'm wondering if it would be better suited to a "bog" like medium....it doesn't look very happy and I'm worried I'll do more damage than help.

Bump..
I thought all Pleurothallis were epiphytic? In which case it would rot.

Like I know...I guess I should considering I bought the poor thing. The reason I ask is because I've seen this plant recommended for vivariums and I assumed (not a good thing) that they would prefer a more moist environment.

The leaves were smooth when purchased and now seem "pitted" - no holes just sorta bumpy. I watered it really well this past week-end and bagged it for a couple of days to see if that helps.

Plurothallis are in general plants without storage organs, so they like humid environments. But, like Tindo says, they are epiphytic or rupicolous and don't like to be kept with their 'feet' wet. Wet environment is good, wet roots for long periods no good at all. Many of them will do good mounted on wood slabs or tree fern sticks in wet environments. I grow mine both on hard wood or tree fern sticks along with my Vandas, in which case they can receive water every day without rotting problems.

So will mine be OK in a bark, charcol mix or should I attempt to mount it?

Bark and charcoal should work ok and I've seen them grown in that. Not sure why yours isn't.

Would sphagnum be out of the question?

Moss would not be out of the question. But I must say that bagging it seemed to work - there are three new leaves coming up!!! YEAH

check the roots! If they are healthy the plant will recover. If rotted ,clean off /cut off rotted parts and loosely pot in new sphagnum moss.
Most recover.
