Default Root or Spike

I know this topic has probably been covered numerous times but need help. This is my first Phalaenopsis, it bloomed and I haven't killed it off yet! Is this growth showing up new spikes or roots? I'm guessing roots but thought they would go down if that was the case. Thanks for any help.

Looks like nice healthy roots in both pictures.

That is a root. Roots will be white/gray with green tips. Spikes have an end that looks like a mitten hand as opposed to pointy. (:

Just as I suspected! The root that is going up, will it make its way down sooner or later?

It's a root. Some roots willl point up if you have high humidity in the air.

I have some roots pointing up - I like them; but so far none have come back down. So, probably not. They're quite interesting to look at

spikes will have a little bud mitten on the end and its noticeably not a spike
