I have central air, plus I have a ceiling fan on low along with a humidifier. They don't seem to mind the air circulation at all. My window faces south/southeast, but we do have an overhang that shades it some. I don't have any high window sills, so mine are in a humidity tray near the middle of the window, no burning here. Most of mine are Phals. Good luck!

This cries out for a perfect solution: more orchids. Put the high-light plants between the window and your phals.

I do think it's the bay since the plants were all in one of the other east/southeast windows and are doing ok so far.
looking 4 maybe 5 got burned, I grabbed them out of it real quick when I saw the burns so I can't be 100% sure, but I think the ones that got burnt were the ones right up against the glass. So yes putting higher light plants closer and keeping those back might be good too. I'd really love it if I could put most of the plants in the bay and then keep some of the ones that won't fit in the other window. It's just in there I worry they might not get seen as much. Watering and care will be fine since I do all the plants together so none get forgotten or overwatered.
So I'm still thinking of doing the bay, if the price isn't totally insane, and putting up a sheer during summer that can be opened after the sun is off the window. I think this will fit the most amount of plants and keeping the phals in the back more will help them as not all of them burned so I may just have to buy a catt or two to fill in the front more! ha ha!!
I also plan on landscaping in front of the window too. I don't want to block it, but I'm thinking a nice lime light or something so that way it'll get slightly into the bottom of the window but not block it, plus it'll shade it some in summer and let in sun in winter. The previous owners, who are friends of ours funny enough!, said they have nothing of a green thumb so it's a 100% blank slate out there right now!! We brought over some of our plants since our buyer said he wants to do his own thing with gardens and told us to take whatever! So everyone is in pots right now waiting for planting here. It's exciting and overwhelming at the same time!
