Red/Purple Phal leaves and roots?
Hey guys,
I was repotting this guy today (bought about 4 months ago with big light pink blooms, dropped blooms about 2 months ago), and I am totally stumped by what I saw.
I've always been confused because the leaves have some red/purple around the edges and under the leaves, but the plant never seemed unhealthy so I didn't think much of it.
Now looking at the roots I'm totally confused. Some are the normal green/grey colour, but some are totally pink/red.
Is this normal? Any thoughts?

The red / people pigment on the leaves is usual for many Phals.
I have Phals that have pinkish grow tips on the roots, but yours appears to be something different, tho I don't think it's cause for concern. Looks to me like maybe that portion of the roots the velamin dried out, and now new root tips are starting.
Hopefully others can chime in with their opinions.

It may be stain from your media/bark. I wouldn't worry about it.

It looks fine to me. It is not uncommon for phal hybrids to have purple edges. I have one that has tiny purple dots, and purple edges on its leaves.
