Default Phal reblooming from very end of spent spike that I didn't remove am I stressing it

A little back history my NoID phal is about 18 months old. It has rebloomed on its own once with minimal care but it's also been roughed up by my 5 year old twins and needed repotting. So two weeks ago it looked to be in bad shape and completely over stuffed in it's pot that it had been in for 18 months or more depending on when they last repotted it prior to buying. It dropped it's last to flowers the morning I repotted. Much to my surprise the roots were in really good shape and needed minimal removal which forced me to pot up 1". I had to remove 2 leaves due to my kids knocking it off a table and causing severe damage to both leaves. I left the spike alone and in place since it had been through enough its now much happier and the roots are growing well.

Long story short the day after repotting I put kieki grow on a lower node. the node is starting to show a very tiny green growth but what I realized today was it was spiking out of the very end of the spent spike after only two weeks of no flowers. Is this ok or too much stress?

If you're asking me I say let it be. I've got a crown-rotted NoID Phal with old green spike growing a new branch right now. Roots look great, just no head (crown). Another plant, Yupin Fairlady, still has green spike that's starting a new branch & couple months ago just after blooming it started a basal keiki. I'm just letting them all do what they want to do. Good luck & keep us posted!

Ok Thanks! The buds are looking good growing nice and pretty fast. I still can't tell if I've got a kieki or another spike on the node I pasted but it's green and growing slower than a snail!
