You DO NOT want to use both Physan and Inocucor Garden Solution!!! The IGS is a biological inoculant that establishes colonies of good fungi and bacterial that kill the bad ones. Using Physan kills everything.

Thanks Ray! And sorry if I insinuated using them both or even that I didn't specifically say don't use them both!! Glad you caught that.

Ok, so I wanted to update you all on some steps I've taken in trying to stop the rot below:

1.) I cut off both pseudobulbs by cutting away the part of the rhizome they were connected to. On the rhizome, I cut up to the next healthy pseudobulb. Hopefully that was far enough...

2.) I covered the cut with cinnamon.

3.) I sprayed hydrogen peroxide on the entire affected plant, including the roots, leaves, media, and pot.

4.) I sprayed hydrogen peroxide on all the other nearby orchids, their roots, leaves, and media.

5.) I let the orchids and media air-out and repotted the healthy orchids the same way they were potted before.

6.) I repotted the rotting cattleya in question with the entire plant being above and out of the media (staked). I have all the roots on top of or hanging over the potting media. No portion of the plant is below the media.

7.) I put a fan on these orchids all day to quicken drying time.

After some time, I will send another update on the orchid's progress. Let me know if you have any other tips in the meantime or if I left something out I should have done.

It sounds like that should help. You could have potted the roots on the affected one. But some people do recommend on sick orchids, to just set it on top of lava rock or leca and let the roots grow and then gradually start adding more to slowly cover them up and get them slowly accustomed to being in media. If it has good roots, this shouldn't be an issue. The fan is a very good addition. Good air movement 24/7 is always recommended. Hopefully it will be healthy and sometimes cutting parts off stimulates a new growth to start so it could do that.
