The day will come, someday, when you just can't. I hang them, bought shelves and lights, but when I buy new orchids, I have to give others away to make certain they fit inside when winter comes.
I do grow other plants so that might be part of the problem....

Orchids that can stay on a windowsill all year, no lights required:
I really like Eurychone rothschildiana (fragrant) as it is a nice small orchid that takes the same care as a Phal and the blooms are rather cute.
I have Haraella rectrocalla and Platystele stenostachya in jars (with lids) on a window sill. They bloom frequently throughout the year and, in the jars, take very little care.
If you can put orchids outside during the summer, there are some really nice smaller Cattleyas.
Cattleya walkeriana, Cattleya dolosa, Cattleya Mini Purple, and Cattleya luteola are good choices.
As said, for the Oncidiums, the Twinkles stay small and put on a great show (and there are plenty of color varieties to collect).
Good luck!
