Bad day for orchids
Thumbs down Bad day for orchids

I was away for too long today.... When I got home both Bulbophyllum makayanum(that had finally bloomed!!) suddenly have no flowers.... And the nice happy Beallara has a snapped spike, it's full of buds/flowers and hanging by a thread.... Then I reached up to do something and whacked another orchid in the spike and flowers flew..... Sigh.

Ps.... What do I do with a spike that's hanging from a thread?

Remove it. It's going to die anyway.

Sorry to hear of your day, but welcome to the club - we've all experienced that.

Aw man, that's a bummer, sorry for your luck. Take a deep breath and press on, there will be more...orchids & days like this. Look at it like these were short-lived flowers and be glad you saw them at all. That's how I feel about Irises in the garden.

Once you remove it from the mother place the stem in water and see if any will bloom for you if they have buds. You may just see some of your orchids flowers that way. You may have to change the water each day.
