Dyakia hendersoniana spike not blooming. Advice?!
Default Dyakia hendersoniana spike not blooming. Advice?!

Hello folks!

Question about my little Dyakia hendersoniana. I purchased it about 2 months ago...it had two beautiful spikes at the time and the little guy looked healthy and robust.

Well, two months later it looks exactly the same! The spikes still look beautiful, the plant looks healthy and robust still.... But the spikes have not budged! Even slightly! It looks like the same exact plant. I would have thought that the spikes would have made a little progress by now—or even would have declined had it not liked its new home.

Anyone have experience with these and can offer some advice? Do they usually take a while to bloom, am I just being impatient?

It's in a West exposure shaded from afternoon hot sun but receives a good deal of light generally 1500-2000 foot candles throughout the day—I don't think that's the issue. I am also watering as it approaches dryness so I don't think that's the cause either. I'm stumped!

Any advice?

Thanks!

They are very slow to bloom. At least mine was took it about 3 months or so. So be patient and enjoy it is very pretty when they do bloom.

Seconded on the long time to bloom..... And to bud. I spent weeks staring at unbloomed buds.

I agree with them. Have lots of patience with this spike. Do not change the position=make it stay put in that place. Warmth, humidity and feed it while its about to bloom.
