Unhappy Spike on a Phal with a Keiki attached is Dying

Hi, I have had my orchid for two years. Its has two spikes that each has a Keiki attached. One of the spikes has turned brown from the top down to where the keiki is attached. Below the keiki, the spike is still green. I need to know if I need to remove the keiki. I am very new with the care of orchids. Thanking you in advance for your expertise.

I can send pics if you would like to see them.

As long as the spike below the keikei is green, you don't need to remove it.
