I was hoping the "adult" in me would get over the jealousy aspect, it's such a horrid emotion but...
NOPE! Still here!
I'm dying to see your pictures! If you need help with anything, let us know. Uploading photos will be less of a hassle if you resize them first...and we can help you with that if you need it

Hi, and welcome to the OB. I know you will like it here! A lot of wonderful folks willing to help in anyway they can.
65 Orchids all at once! That could be a bit overwhelming! Sure wish someone would overwhelm me!
Looking forward to your pics and best of luck with the 'chids.

Hi Sylvia,
I can't wait to see your pictures. You will be surprised at what you find yourself hanging orchids from. I have an old chair that belonged to my mother-in-law that was bought by my brother years ago and when the cane seat broke I took it from him and now have a large pot in the seat and use the back from time to time hanging smaller pots from it. Even the rungs hold smaller pots. I have pictures in my gallery.
When you find some time after putting those 65 chids to sleep at night check out the member galleries for ideas. There are great pictures in there.
Lorraine
PS I'm still a lot jealous

Welcome Sylvia! Congrats on your haul: this sounds really exciting. The first time I ever went to an orchid show I won a little tiny drawing and took home a dendrobium myself. If your dendrobiums are the kind that grow on canes, you might have the same orchid-newbie panic that I had when they start yellowing and dropping their leaves. This is normal if they are the nobile type. Just wanted to let you know: good luck with all of your new stuff and congrats!

Hi everyone. We posted a few of our photos in a new thread today. I also posted the rest of my photos in the member gallery, I think under Sylvia.
Can anyone tell me if I did this properly? I'm not sure how to organize the photos in the gallery under my profile.
I'll try to label them later on but was wanted to show their environment and where we are hanging/placing them all.
It's really warm here in Fort Lauderdale, my hubby jumped in the pool this weekend, he is nuts!

Hi Sylvia,
What can I say, OMG sort of fits, and incredible fits, and thank you fits since I look to my right and out of my window see 3 feet of snow!
It looks like you've done a good job of basic placement of your jackpot. I love the backyard and all the palms and pool. Oh, so envious!!!
You're just going to have to keep an eye on the plants to see if you have them in a "happy place".
The wide, floppy leafed ones are Phalaenopsis and they like shade. The Vanda's like sun and the Oncidiums like bright light. That's about all I'll attempt, others here will jump in with some of the more unusual plants. 'Chids are much like any other plant, they will tell you when they are happy or un-happy. Just keep a daily check on them.
Good luck!!
Al

You know Sylvia, If you don't have the room for all those orchids, I would let you store a dozen or so of them at my house.
Congratulations

I bet MI is still pretty cold. Not to make anyone up North envious but check out my gallery under "Sylvia". My hubby took some photos this past weekend.
We are still fine tuning the placement and potting of them all.
I've given about 10 or so away to friends who are fans of Orchids. The only requirement is to provide some sort of advice or encourgement.
Hope Spring comes early for everyone freezing and looking at snowdrifts outside their windows.
Regards,
Sylvia
