Our Orchid Society featured a representative of an orchid growing company from Ecuador. The presentation was fascinating, but the orchids he brought for sale were AMAZING! He picked types he thought would grow well in our environment and I have to say, I lost control. I have 4 new orchids to pot in the morning. Shhhh.....don't tell my better half! He might not notice the bag when he gets up in the morning!

I went to the event thinking maybe I'd pick up one orchid. When I saw that he had quite a lot to sell, and several of them were Laelia Purpurata (an orchid I had at the top of my list) I decided I could get two. Then he showed us Cattleyas, and of course, I had to have one. And at the last minute, as I was walking out the door, I turned around and picked out a nice little Encyclia profusa just as they were shutting down for the night. I don't even know where/how they'll fit in the greenhouse, as the Laelia aren't tiny. And the club is going to put together a group order to be delivered in July, because the vendor/grower didn't bring everything that he thinks we could grow fairly easily...just a small selection.
I'm keeping them hidden for the moment ;-).

4 is absolute restraint! Last week my lovely supportive husband and I visited a nursery that I've been wanting to visit for a while. I pre-ordered 6 plants, ended up with 15 (!!!!!!). Nobody judge me. I had to promise no more new orchids this year. I did, with my fingers crossed :P.
