You live in Puerto Rico, Lilac! Orchids grow like weeds there, don't they?

Well, in some parts they do. But it's like everywhere else really, either they get too much sun or not enough, so you have to find spots for them, or, build up a spot with the shade cloth and the whole deal or a greenhouse even

Because for example I live in a sub-urban development, with the little squares of lawn in front, two huge palm trees in the blazing sun, the backyard is just as blazing no shade trees, some grass over that filler material stuff they use, so I've found different areas for them according to their necessities.

Lilac, you might be a candidate for the Cattleya Maxima that I learned about last night. It grows in Ecuador in full sun.

Our Maryland Orchid Society meeting was tonight. So I went and joined it tonight. This was the first time I had ever been to one. Well I did great I only came home with one new orchid. Asxofinetia Cherry Blossom it is Neof.falcata White x Asctm.Amoullaceum (China Strain) Yes all that is written on this tiny tag. It is in bloom also. Ray for First Rays was our speaker. He did a great job speaking tonight. He spoke about how to use some of his products and what they do.

I have had the 'misfortune' to be a vendor at an orchid show, where Ecuagenera was at the next table. I was unable to ignore them, so I went home with at least half a dozen plants. I have a couple of their Laelia purpuratas; amazing plants.

I suspected it was Ecuagenera, first thing that comes to mind when I see/hear Ecuador.
