Dendrobium seeds? Female
Default Dendrobium seeds?

So I was repotting my dendrobium, as I haven't had it took long, and discovered that it's completely potted in sphag...and I was afraid of root rot, so I checked...things were looking pretty nasty in there...So I trimmed away the nasty roots, and it didn't leave too much left...But as I pulled away the spag from near where the roots begin on the dend. I noticed a couple little yellow-ish orange ball shaped things. I didn't really think much of it til I kept seeing them, and they were only right near where the roots begin. Are they seeds? And if so, what do I need to do to start growing them properly?

Orchid seed is very dusty in appearance and is formed in capsules by the pollination of the flowers, so it's no where near the roots. What you're seeing is likely either fungi or spider eggs.

They could be eggs of a pest. The Dendrobium beetle has small capsule shaped orange eggs layed around the roots. And they eat orchids quick smart. I don't think that's what you have, but small yellow balls in the roots i would want to get rid of.

Oh, i just saw these random circular greyish-whitish colored balls like-things. on the surface of my plant's soil. Like, you can see it visibly, not near the roots. I have no idea if they are seeds or eggs of some sort!
p.s. there were a LOT. just randomly there.

I'm thinking time release fertilizer as well. Try squeezing one, if it's fertilizer it'll be just a hollow ball, with or without liquid inside, depending if all the fertilizer was used up or not.
