Thanks, NYCorchidman. I guess I should stop stressing over it and just let it do its thing. I just freaked out by seeing so many black roots in the pot and for several months to have passed and still seeing the black roots in the pot. But yes, it did grow some new roots since then so that is a good thing.

I also appreciate your comment on leaf coloration. Everything I have ever read always states that strap leafed paphs should be lighter in color than this one has ever been. I am glad you gave a different point of reference to put this in perspective.

As far as winter, during the first few month or so of Fall, the temperatures in the house, particularly at night can go down to 50-60 F. I tend to leave the windows partly open until night temperatures get lower than that. I hope that qualifies as a winter rest. The other time in actual winter, it was in the house so it endured indoor heating.

I'll keep you guys posted in a few months and we'll see how it's doing :) I don't necessarily have my heart set on this particular species, but since it came my way, I wanted to learn to at least keep it alive and well.

Yeah, black roots are not good, but new roots are great!

When people say strap leafed paphs, they mean multifloral paphs like rothchildianum, stonei, lowii,...although there are two other subgroups of paphs that have plain green leaves. So, yeah, it's rather confusing. Even with multifloral, the leaf color and light level is rather debatable. Many people grow them under high light, but some people grow in the shade with dark green leaves and flower just as great or better. Go figure. lol

Back to P. charlesworthii, 50-60F night low is actually ideal for pretty much any paphs that need "cold" winter. So I think you should do well with your plant.
Regarding the required duration of winter rest for this plant or other paphs, I don't think there is much study (if at all) done. I'm sure they have minimum required cold period like tulips or daffodils, I just don't know how long. I would think it's best to keep them the "natural" way for best result. I would keep it in the cold room for the entire winter.

Yours being a mature division, I wouldn't be surprised if you see it flower later this year with good care.
