I don't know why im okay with snakes and not spiders! I'd have to zip tie and duct tape the yogurt lids! But yes, cooler is sounding better and better....didnt think about the sun shining in, etc. And it would be a good place for carlos (snake) to be kept in his pillowcase.

I've never bothered with a cooler or anything more elaborate than a cardboard box for transporting orchids. The few occasions where I moved orchids over long distances I taped newspaper over the top of the pots to keep the media in place. The more fragile plants, or blooming ones will get rolled up in newspaper (the top is still open) Then I place them side by side, pretty snug so they hold each other up, and fill in the gaps between pots with crumpled up newspaper. No problems in a car, just don't leave them in the car in the sun unattended. I've even transported a few blooming Phals this way (with a dozen other orchids) in the train for a nearly 1000km trip that involved changing trains or even stations in 3 different cities. They made it just fine!

Thanks camille! I may just pack them that way and set them in the cooler....? It will solve my problem of where to put Carlos for about a 3 weeks until I get my household goods delivered

I understand. To some people, plants are plants, yes, they are.
But once you get used to them and you like them, then it's rather difficult to just let go, and it can be hard to find a replacement even if it's a mericlone because individual plants can have different characteristic. Some are more vigorous or better flowering than others.

I pitched my white phal long time ago. They are everywhere and I still haven't found anything that I really like to have. Yeah, I'm that picky. hahaha

Wish you best luck with moving!

Is Carlos the dog, the spider, the snake, the husband or the baby? I'm all confused.
