Flask to flower? Male
Default Flask to flower?

I'm sure it's been covered before , but I could not find a thread. Anyway , how long from de-flasking to flowering in general for Catasetum and Cattleya ?
Thanks
Steve

I've deflasked one Morm x Cyc cross and it took four and five years to bloom them except for two that I didn't bloom in the sixth year. They either bloom this year or I will intro them to Mr. Trash.

I have deflasked four Catt crosses and have bloomed none of them. My first was C purpurata alba in '06 and they all reside in 6" clay pots. I do have one of them currently with a sheath.

I've also done two hybrids that have been out of flask for five years and one C. walkeriana coerulea also five years out. None of them are close to blooming.

Brooke

I hope you dont have to trash them also. It looks like a long wait for anyone raising seedlings.

L purpurata is a known large plant/slow grower. If you grow in a greenhouse, mini Catts should reach BS in 2-3 years.
