Paphiopedilium Winston Churchill repotting care
I'm repotting my crosses now but I can' t seem to find out if it is warm growing. Did find out that it is heat resistant. Would an east window provide enough light?
Would love to see them bloom again and if anyone has any great suggestions , I would love to hear them. I've had one pap . for 5 years and no blooms. It is a noid and was given to me as a very small plant.

According to Orchid Wiz, it is made up of almost 50/50 warm and cool growers. So it should be fairly adaptable.

Would you suggest a NW window in sunroom in Oh. Or should I put them outside this summer? ?

A NW window would likely be fine so long as sun isn't too direct later in the day. I am not really familiar with Oh. weather but I know some people here hang their Paphs out in their trees and seem to really like it. I had a few of mine out like that last summer.

I'm confused. Your title says Paph. Winston Churchill and you say you have a NOID.
Cacti would be heat resistant. lol
Ok, jokes aside, Paphs are not heat resistant, rather some can be heat tolerant.
I'm not sure about your NOID, but Paph. Winston Churchill ( and any bulldog complex hybrids) need a bright light to grow and flower well. No direct sun though. East window with all the morning sun is fine.
Or shaded south or west (I would not pick west, too much heat in the summer).
Depening on high small (or young) the seedling was when you first got it 5 years ago and depending on your care, it may still be too young to bloom, although I would think 5 years sounds long enough time for out of flask seedlings to reach flowering size.
Paph. WC get quite big. How big is yours?

Thanks so much for the information. The noid only has 2 growths but seems to be doing better now that I changed the mix and put it in a smaller pot.
The Winston Churchills were purchased @ our Home and Garden Show. A greenhouse company was selling their orchids and since these paps were large (at least 3 lg fans) I thought I would take a chance. The plants were blooming in Feb. and just now dropped their flowers. Everywhere I read now is the time to transplant. I would just be so happy if I could get them to rebloom. I am doing more things right than wrong now but I still need help. Our winter was cold and I lost a few plants

Did you bloom Winston Churchill under your care?
If yes, just continue to do what you have been doing.
Once you see plants begin to grow, then it is an ideal time to repot, which is usually spring time.
So if you wish, you may repot it now. If the potting mix looks good, you don't need to repot.
I don't ever repot annually. About every two three years.
WC should bloom every year with proper care.
It is an easy grower/bloomer.
Pretty much any paphs will do great in east window. West or NW may not be as good of a choice.
For best performance, I would not subject to WC or similar type hybrid much lower than 50F at night.
The other one you have, have you seen flower? Do you have any idea as to what type it is?
Given your description, it should be a blooming size, but then you might have one of those reluctant bloomer.

The noid was given to me so I have no idea of the type except for the fact that it has leaves like WC.
The WC was in bloom when I bought it and one plant had 2 flowers. They are amazing and I do think that I have a chance with them . I have a great east window but unless the window is open there will not be a lot of air movement.
Also I just want to thank everyone on Orchidboard.com for their help. I've had more plants bloom this year than any other year with your help. I do not have a greenhouse but I do have a sunroom and I do put many plants outside in the summer. Some plants had not bloomed for several years until this yr. So after sitting in this sunroom for three wks in a cast I truly thank you all. The bloomers have been a great pick me up.

Alright.
You should be fine with WC. It is a strong grower and good bloomer.
East window is ideal. You don't need shade or anything. just leave it there and water well, and it will bloom in time.
Air movement, no matter how little, is always there.
You don't need to open the window.
Some people think they have to provide hurricane to their plants and fuss with fans all over the place.
That is just not true and one can see why that is very easily and simply.
You sit in your house and read a book for a couple of hours. Do you get dizzy or short of breath because there is not a breeze? No!
If your room heats up to certain point or if you have a lot of plants close together, maybe stronger air movement might be beneficial. A few plants? Don't worry about air movement.

I feel better now and the plant looks great after the transplant. Move over violets and out comes the red carpet for the paps. to be placed in an east window with 1 Phrag. Wosser Super Grand which has not bloomed in years...another gift.
Thanks so much and I will post when they rebloom.
