Extending the chaos approach to glass work. And using a Cattleya that has just started flowering as a model for a small window hanging. I hope it looks good when done. I plan to do a few orchid panels in glass.

I'm curious about the technique with the flower pot. Are you foiling the glass, glueing it to the pot and then soldering the joints or is that just some sort of temporary adhesive to allow the pieces to be soldered in the shape of the pot and then removed?

Default Hi

Hi, I'm using the tacky wax that people use for Tiffany Lamp making. But it does not work well for this process. So I'm more or less balancing each bit of glass , sometimes with a prop at the back. Then I paint a little flux on the foil and drop hot solder on a couple of points. It's just very fragile at the moment. Once I get every bit in place I can add solder and pull it all together. I'm working my way up to more and more complex designs , like a tower for Catasetums .
Hope that helps
p.s. here , I hope is the link to the first pot thread

Default Thanks guys

Thanks guys, the Cat is one I got at the NCOS auction a couple of months ago.Three flowers per spike , six at the moment with another three flowers coming in a few days.
The label reads Lailia purpurata 'Hihimano' x purpurata
'Carmenita' ( carnea type ?) Brazil , that's the full label.
You have so see the pot it's in , inner pot with clay balls was placed in an outer pot, I guess to be re-potted later. Anyway it seems the person forgot the re-potting later bit , which I understand as it's something I may do
Also the glass pot has come on a little , pics show the balancing act, it tapers more than the pics show.
plus an image of the crazy table as I call it. Plus a pic of the images I make using glass, copper , mirrors ,lights and camera

Default Cat inspired

The Cat inspired glass is done , two hours ahead of the Auction start at the school . My wife Jo figured I'd never get it done on time. If it goes for less than a hundred I'm buying it
One pic has the Cat behind the glass, who knows I may get into doing peoples prize Orchids in Glass for them . The flowers would be around for a few hundred years instead of a few weeks
