My Maxillaria Tenufolia has a spike!!!!!
I don't need help with this, and since I just spotted it a few minutes ago, I don't even have a photo. I'm just thrilled and no one but fellow orchid addicts would understand my excitement.

I'm still praying for spikes on mine... 1 blooming in the nearly 5 years that I've had it. So I can imagine your joy at seeing spikes!

I read on a other site that they can handle full Florida sun if watered well so I put mine where I'd put a Vanda. Now I have a spike. Could be coincidence. I've had it since August 2014.

Supposedly it can handle up to 5,000fc. I'd give it some shelter during the summer because midday light in the southern part of the US is pretty brutal. Mine is in a greenhouse, right up at the top. There is some filtering because of the panels. I also repotted it in a basket, so I'm treating it like a Vanda. So far, so good.

Huzzah!
I only ever catch mine when it's already in bloom lol.
I keep mine in full sun. From dawn till dusk.

Congratulations!
This is the first year that I have actually seen the bud on mine. Usually, I smell it and do a search for the bloom. I really like the flowers on these.

I keep hearing that, Leafmite, so I was surprised to find the first bud so high in the plant. I expected it to be nestled in the bottom somewhere. If I am counting correctly and identifying what I see as spikes/buds, I may have 8 flowers. Not bad for the first year!
