Looking for advice on recommended varieties for relatively easy growth in central texas (hot/humid/bright light) zone 8b (and could always/ will have to bring in for winter when starting to get below 40F)
I have had some success but mostly have really struggled with orchids in the few years I've kept them (originally in PA) despite tons of care and culture research.
I was a big fan of the fragrant Zygopetalum Midnight I had and it was pretty easy overall but I killed it on a really busy year. Not sure how they would do down here.
Recommended Cymbidium types for warm blooming flowers would be much appreciated as well.
Would appreciate any advice on recommended varieties. I don't necessarily have a ton of time for constant maintenance plants (very busy, 2 young kids etc), so the less the better (tolerant of less watering etc - we have plenty of humidity and bright light)
Note - If you can recommend good places to buy them (prices and quality/health), that would be much appreciated as well - fellow board members would be great
as I think part of the problem was the plants I acquired not being the best sources.
Thanks for the help!
-Josh
