I grow mine very bright... Next to my Dendrobiums under metal halide, and put them in full sun during our summer here in Vancouver (full sun here is not the same as lower latitudes) with lots of air movement. High temperatures rage from 30c -25c during the summer with lows between 15-17c... Winter temps are not much different inside under lights 27-15c. I'm have tried many mixes over the years and like lava rock in vented clear plastic pots with moss top dressing. I will only water when roots are completely dry and might leave them that way for 4-5 days in winter. In the summer I will water when dry. They don't mind low humidity for me....
So, bright, warm/intermediate, let dry, stress them a bit while resting by withholding water for a few days after roots are dry.
This works for me. I have two plants that will bloom twice a year, and three others that will bloom once...had one that would not bloom ever (mature 4 years)... So I to rid of it.
