Here are my Cattleya Walkeriana and Ascocentrum Ampullaceum. Not sure what these growths are. The growth on the Ascocentrum is right behind an old spike stalk. Not familiar with the Cattleya Walkerina and how a new growth or a spike starts, so I'm not sure if I have a new growth or spike?

The first one is probably a bud. It looks right, and it is the season.

It looks like the Catt is starting a new growth.

Your cattleya seems to be a bit wet. As I understand, cattleya likes to dry in between water. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the ideas! The Cattleya was just watered. It is potted in red lava rock with just a top coat of sphagnum. I let it get very dry before watering (probably too dry).
