Coel. Cristata growth from old spike?
Default Coel. Cristata growth from old spike?

I picked up a Coelogyne Cristata in February, and it has 3 new growths on it. One of the growths is coming from what I assume is an old flower spike? I've heard the spikes die back after they bloom. This growth is definitely growing.

Has anyone seen something like this before? I am new to coelogynes. Thanks

Edit: Maybe it's the old growth eye from a dead bulb?

It could be that the growth is coming from a growth that never fully developed, for whatever reason.

When my Coelogyne nitida blooms, the spikes come from the top of immature growths. After the spiks finish, the pseudobulbs and leaves develop.
