What factors decide how long flowers on Phalaenopsis will last? I have 5 Phals and on some of them flowers literally last for months, and on some just few weeks. Is this about their genetics or they need different care? All of them are on same window and all conditions are same... So I'm curious, what decides how long flowers will last?

Yes, you're right, it's largely about genetics. Thick/waxy petaled phals are generally the ones which last the longest (I've had a waxy petal hybrid hold its blooms for nearly 6 months), while my thin petaled ones tend to last around 3 months. The ones the usually don't last very long are the sequential bloomers (or hybrids with sequential bloomers in their background), which only have a couple blooms open at once. For instance, Phal equestris blooms last only a month or so, before being replaced by new flowers.

Bloom duration can also be affected by temperature, drafts/sudden changes in temperature, and the presence of ripe fruit right next to them.

I agree with Camille, it's both genetics, conditions, and your care of them. I have a NoID that lasts about 2 months in bloom and yet another NoID that blooms about a month or so.
