Usually , you'll have to wait about 3 to 4 days after the first flowers open , before you can detect any fragrance. The fragrance of the orchids may not be present if the plant has a change in environmental condition. Sometimes , even when the plant is still in spike , and is very healthy , if you move it even just to a different room that has a different environmental condition than the one it has been growing in , the fragrance may not be released once the blooms open. The fragrance also depends on conditions such as warmth , intensity of light , and humidity. The warmer , more humid , and brighter the growing condition is , the more intense the fragrance. It's because these conditions favor the dissemination of the scent , and it also indicates that the weather is good and that the pollinators are more likely to be active and present in the environment.
