i've never seen one but i'd be careful not to let it or any tool come to contact with other bulbs. i've had great results using isopropyl alcohol with bacterial infections on my plants.

I have heard of folks using antibiotic ointments like Neosporin, but I dust the area with cinnamon to dry it up and prevent a fungal infection.

For many years, sulfur powder was the remedy of choice, but cinnamon has taken over lately. It's easier to find, and smells good too.

i opened up the lesion (inside was mealy as a tomato would get if it were in the fridge) and sprinkled on some cinnamon. what should happen and what should i be looking for. if it does not clear up should i remove the psuedobulb all together? it is a very healthy plant in general with 4 new growths coming that are about 3 inches in length and i don't want to lose the plant. thanks. d.

It should just dry up, and that's the end. If it progresses, you'd be right to remove it.
