On September 9, I rescued my first orchid...a large phalaenopsis from Lowe's. It had finished blooming, so I had no idea what color it was, and had no id, so I couldn't look it up. At first it grew like a weed, sending roots everywhere and growing huge leaves. Then we got a greenhouse, and when I put the orchid there, it fell victim to whatever fungus lived in the greenhouse. I cut the fungus damaged leaves off, and now had an ugly plant that still kept going roots. Before long, it started to develop spikes and buds. And today, I finally get to see the flower! It's like Christmas, because I had no idea what I was getting! I'm so thrilled! The orchid and I traveled a hard road together, but is SO worth it! I name it NoID Lowe's Mid America!
