Awaiting 3 new flasks of Paphs... any suggestions?
These will be my first Paph flasks. They were also a little steep in price. Soo does anyone have suggestions or recommendations on how to set them up to ensure I don't kill them. They are:
Paph Adductum
Paph Leucochilum
Paph Boxallii
Plus Dendrobium Talasea

Whew! Tall order. After deflasking set them up with high high humidity and low low light for a few days to give them time to acclimate. Life in the flask has been cushy, 100% humidity and near constant temps. Try to recreate this, while still providing plenty of air flow. Gradually introduce them to more light until they reach their final destination. Get clean water. Low tds, low fert. After about a month they will have a thicker skin.
Kudos on the adductum, I hear they can take upwards of 20 years from flask til bloom, some quicker some slower. You are more adventurous than I.

I selfed a paph lowii on 2/21/13 and will be picking up a flask in the next month or so. I will be following this thread with interest. I recommend you have it moved to propagation as you may get more responses.
In the meantime, here is an article. Its likely that I will use a sphagnum, seedling bark and charcoal mix in the compots.

I also have ADHD! I can barely tolerate nbs orchids, let alone seedlings!!!
I will also follow this post because I am curious to see this project get underway. Good luck.

OK Romeo.
Folks have seen remarkable survival results in deflasked seedlings that are treated with Inocucor Garden Solution, a "plant probiotic' that virtually eliminates damping-off. If you want to try it, I'll send to a sample bottle for the cost of shipping ($5.25). Check your PMs.
Also, if you're going to be serious about orchids, learn to document their names correctly! All of those are species, so the specific name should not be capitalized.

I strongly recommend the Inocucor that Ray suggested. It saved some Phal seedlings for me, and 100+ Paph seedlings that got treated right out of flask are growing like crazy with 100% survival.

I have written a 2 page guide on how to deflask and treat Paph seedlings.
Send me an e-mail (fairorchids@aol.com), and I will send it to you.
NOTE: Seedlings fresh out of flask should be in lower light for quite a while. I grow in a greenhouse, but use an additional layer of shade cloth on my seedlings tubs for 8-12 months.
