Default Interesting Supermarket finds

Steve Cannon here , new to here and orchid collecting. Not new to growing plants, exotic temperate gardening and Bamboos for the past 12 years or so. Anyway , I've been buying orchids , many orchids Some from nurseries , some from the NCOS auction last month. Some from Safeway, Trader Joe's and so on. I've come across the odd unexpected noid plant in the Supermarkets.
Here's a couple of images.
One small Phal and two images of an ? the purple colour on the pseudo bulbs looks unusual to me, the flowers are really stunning too.
Thanks
Steve
p.s. I have noid post up too.

The one with purple pseudobulbs looks like a Beallara Marfitch.

We have a big one in the greenhouse I volunteer at and it has spikes about 3 feet tall and still growing. I'm not sure why the bulbs are purple, but I can say that none of ours have coloration that distinct (maybe too much sun?). Have fun with that one they grow like weeds and flower like crazy if you give them what they want.

EDIT: Is the Bllra planted in potting soil? If so you may want to repot sooner rather than later.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the ID, looks spot on. There was another of the Marfitch at Trader Joe's a couple of days later, same shipment I suspect. It did not have a hint of purple. The purple is much deeper in person than in the picture. I thought Sun and perhaps it is. I suspect this clone is more prone to colouring in light than some of it's sister plants. I've noticed with other cloned exotics that in a batch there are often a few odd plants , in theory they should be all the same but in practice the process of making the plants , chemicals or whatever , changes a few clones. I'll repot as soon as it finishes flowering .Thanks

The little variegated phal was tucked in a low shelf , hidden in a bunch of normal green phals . I swooped and scooped as soon as I saw it. I did not even know one could get a variegated phal

Welcome welcome!! You certainly have found some great ones. I'm digging both of them, but nice job snatching up that variegated phal. I think the color on the pbulbs, though unusual, is not something to worry about. Interesting really. But of course other more seasoned growers will chime in.

Cheers!

I got lucky with that ID, Bllra Marfitch is the one plant that I have been obsessing over the past few weeks. I was almost sure of my ID just looking at the shape of the pseudobulbs.

That variegated Phal is awesome too, great haul!

Default Great Work

Very Happy to have the ID.
Here are a couple of shots of my collection so far.
Plus an attempt at an arty shot with some glass, another hobby of mine.

Congrats on the fabulous finds. I to have found some hidden gems among the same boring phals. My recent one being my first fragrant Phal, I believe it has some Phal Sogo in it. Very exciting. Again, though you have some gorgeous finds.
