vanda tesselata pot or basket?
Default vanda tesselata pot or basket?

hi

i have a small vanda tesselata in a pot with some bark but im not sure wich one is better if pot or a stardard plastic basket

some opinions please

Personally I would go with a clay pot and large bark.

clay pot i cant see what is going on on the roots and if they are good or bad i think i already lost one root because of the potting but im not sure

Personally I like baskets for vandas, if this isn't available to you I would also suggest a squat pot with minimal gravel just to anchor the plant and then let it grow hanging up. Most of mine are that way

There's something funky growing in your pot, you need to repot and replace media.

Vandas need air movement around the roots, that plastic cup won't cut the mustard.

Choose a slatted pot, plastic or square doesn't matter. Media your choice but think chunky, I prefer to use charcoal for vanda if I use media (I'm usually bare root though).

Thanks im going to put it in a Vanda basket lets see if it grows better

You do not mention where/how you grow. If in house, I recommend net pots (hold medium better, but still allows good air movement).

For a Vandaceous plant that small, I recommend a sphagnum/bark mix, using medium size nuggets. You have to water before medium goes dry, ideally augmented with misting or a fogger to keep humidity high.

grow it in my bedroom (kinda like a greenhouse) its always 24 to 30ºc i have other vandas (big ones) that do great here i water them every day
