I have my tolumnia in a net pot with medium bark mix and water twice a week or so. I dries out quickly enough. It's in a south window, but about 1 foot away from the window. I did see that if you don't cut off the spike after blooming it will send out secondary shoots with new blooms on the old spike.
Two are still in tiny 1" clay pots with metal hooks, and no media really, and one I replanted in reg orchard back in a little bigger pot.
So far they're all doing fine as long as I water them every day to every other day. The very few times I've forgotten them, the leaves would start to turn brown and fall off. Have had them for a year. The LOVED being outside all summer.
I've had no problem about forgetting to water them as long as humidity in the room they are in is above 40%. You can forget about them for up to a week that way. Mine is also in a clay pot with bark and I plan to get more of these! Great little orchid!
I have three on a single mount, each in a bend in a piece of wood. 2 of the three are in spike, but the third is lagging. I also have one mounted on cork which is doing quite well. These are always beautiful
