Orchid Phal - Unexpected regrowth
We were given a small double spiked orchid phalaenopsis this summer, it grew quite tall with new branches and lots of healthy looking flowers. For the last month of so it have been dropping flowers and the spike part where the flowers were went brown. It was almost out of flowers and we thought it was soon ready to get cut and rest.
But then it started growing new branches with flower buds from the two spikes! Is this common? Should we let it or cut it?
We don't have much experience with any kind of flowers, but would like to learn.

I always try to let the orchid tell me what it wants to do and follow along. If the leaves and roots (that you can see) look healthy, my vote would be to enjoy the show!

I agree, it's common. I let it rebloom if it wants to.

Welcome to Orchid Board! Leave anything that is still green and not dead. I did a test with mine. The one I cut did nothing. All the others are getting new buds and some are starting to rebloom. There is a saying... if it's green don't be mean.

I've had some that for the whole summer they just wouldn't stop spiking or making new branches. It was ridiculous. But as they said, as long as the leaves and roots are fine, enjoy!

Thank you very much for all your helpful answers! We'll let it bloom!
It looks a lot less like a halloween prop after removing the dead parts.
